Do your pets and/or lizards come inside the casita?

  • The lizards prefer to be outside. I’ve never had one come into the house. We have one cat who believes the casita exists to house people visiting HIM and he likes to go over there, but it’s easy to keep him out if you prefer.

Is the night sky truly dark so that I can gaze at the stars?

  • The stars are dazzling! We see the Milky Way regularly in all its glory, so long as the moon isn’t too bright. Because we are a dark sky community, motion-triggered lights are against our covenants. We have many amateur astronomers out here, so all lights are downward facing and ambient light is very low.

Is there more than occasional highway or vehicle noise disrupting the quiet?

  • No. There is occasional car or highway noise, but I think you’ll find it’s rare. People always comment on how quiet it is here.

Can I control the room temperature?

  • Even in the summertime, because we’re high-altitude, we rarely get past the mid-90s. Besides the optional air-conditioning, there are ceiling fans and very good cross-ventilation if you wish to open the windows. The desert air cools at night usually down to 50s and 60s, making for excellent sleeping weather. For wintertime, besides the heating units in the living room, bedroom, and bathroom, the casita also has a working kiva fireplace. (If the monsoon rains fall while you’re here in the summertime, it can get chilly then too!)

What is the quality of your wifi?

  • Wifi is super! There’s a very high speed connection for Zoom meetings, etc.
